Kalma chowk flyover's construction has been challenged by Lahore bachao and WWF-Pakistan in Lahore high court due to the environmental threats of the project.  There is a popular notion amongst Lahorites that road expansion, flyovers or under passes are not a solution and they are demanding a cheaper urban mass transit system such as under and above the ground rail system, preferably using solar and wind energy to function.

Inhabitants of the 250-house village of "Mauza Sal Kether in the foothills of Murree "were jolted on March 28th 2011 by the blasting done by Bahria Town's management to terrorize them into giving up their rights on the land Bahria Town wants for its Golf City.
